NCCU School of Business Hosts 2 Marketing Experts

Two experts on branding and marketing will explore “The Business of Marketing” at North Carolina Central University in the next installment of the NCCU School of Business Dean’s Global Speaker Series. The discussion will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 29, starting at 5:15 p.m. in B.N. Duke Auditorium.

The featured speakers are Richelle Parham, vice president and chief marketing officer for eBay North America, and Brian James King, senior vice president for global brand management and portfolio programs at Marriott International.

Parham joined eBay in 2010 after serving as head of global marketing services for Visa. At eBay, she is responsible for the company’s North American marketing strategies, including brand advertising, consumer product marketing, relationship marketing, global citizenship and customer insights. She holds bachelor’s degrees from Drexel University in both business administration and design arts.

King has risen through the ranks at Marriott since joining the company in 1993. In his current post, he is responsible for brand positioning, long-range strategic brand planning and product development for a variety of Marriott’s brands, including Courtyard, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Residence Inn and Marriott Executive Apartments. He is currently working on developing lodging products in emerging markets, particularly Brazil, India and China. He is a graduate of Cardinal Stritch University.

The Global Speaker Series, established in early 2012 by NCCU School of Business Dean D. Keith Pigues, is an outgrowth of university’s 2020 Strategic Plan and aims to increase retention and graduation rates, enhance academic distinction and distinctiveness and foster community engagement. Each Speaker Series forum includes roundtables and provides opportunities afterward for students to interact with leading business professionals and entrepreneurs.

The public session, including presentations by Parham and King, will run from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. There will be smaller sessions before and after for business students, faculty and invited guests. Those planning to attend are requested to RSVP at http://web.nccu.edu/business/globalSpeakerSeries/ or 919-530-6458.
