DEEGS Senior Accepted to Prestigious Training Program

DEEGS student Ryan Bethea was recently accepted to the Oyster Aquaculture Training Program (OAT) run through the Virginia Institute of Marine Science at William and Mary University.   The Aquaculture Genetics and Breeding Technology Center (ABC) at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science established the Oyster Aquaculture Training program to help meet the demand for trained staff for industry, and to assist its own oyster-domestication programs.   Ryan went through an extensive interview process and was 1 of only 4 selected for this prestigious program.  The program, located at Gloucester Point, Virginia, will run from April through September.  Congratulations to Ryan.
