NCCU Appoints Luke McHale As Comptroller

Luke McHale has been appointed comptroller for the Division of Administration and Finance for North Carolina Central University (NCCU).

In this role, McHale will be responsible for planning, directing, monitoring, and coordinating the financial and accounting activities of the university in accordance with general accounting principles, regulations, policies, and guidelines.

Prior to his appointment, McHale served as director of finance for Tribune Media, a multimedia-broadcasting firm. At Tribune Media, McHale provided leadership for general accounting and compensation accounting for the corporation. Additionally, his work included hiring, training, and establishing a general accounting group as part of a newly created shared services team. 

In addition to his leadership positions, McHale worked more than eight years as a top executive at The Garden City Group Inc., a legal services firm. During his tenure at the firm, he was responsible for a broad array of accounting and finance work.

McHale has also led several process improvement efforts to increase the level of automation for financial reporting.

McHale holds a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Bucknell University and a Master of Business Administration in finance from St. John’s University.
