3rd Puerto Rico Cancer Research Meeting

Dr. Kevin P. Williams, Associate Professor, Biology, in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at North Carolina Central University (“NCCU”) has been invited by the Universidad Central del Caribe-School of Medicine, Ponce Health Sciences University and the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Campus to be the keynote speaker at the 3rd Puerto Rico Cancer Research Meeting to be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Verdanza Hotel in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico.


This one-day meeting has been designed to create a forum on the island to enhance the discussion of the most current findings in the cancer field.  In this meeting, the latest and most exciting discoveries in cancer research will be highlighted. The venue provides a unique opportunity for investigators from Puerto Rico to meet, network, and forge new scientific relations with local and national investigators.


This Cancer Research Meeting will establish a bridge that will allow for the exchange of scientific ideas and research.  Basic and clinical investigators, as well as community researchers, cancer survivors and advocates, health professionals, undergraduate and graduate students from local universities working in the cancer research field will participate in the meeting.  In addition to Dr. Williams’ keynote speech titled “Targeting the Hedgehog Pathway in Development and Cancer: Pharmacological Modulation”,

the program will include lectures, scientific talks from local researchers and students and a poster session. 


Dr. Kevin P. Williams, is a tenured Associate professor in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at NCCU and is a Principal Investigator in the BRITE Institute at NCCU. Dr. Williams has more than 30 years of combined experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and academia.
