NCCU Little Royals and Junior Royals Court 2018

By: Chelsey Holts, director of Communications and Marketing, Student Affairs

North Carolina Central University’s Royal Court will host its annual Little Royals fundraising pageant at 5 p.m., Sept. 21, featuring the theme Alice in Wonderland.

The event is open to NCCU faculty, staff, alumni and the local community. Children from the ages of 5 to 13 are eligible to participate.

The pageant in which Little Mister and Miss NCCU will be crowned was created to provide a memorable experience for future Eagles, as well as an opportunity to strengthen their confidence and social and speaking skills. Proceeds from the pageant assist the Royal Court in carrying out community service activities, cultural awareness projects and in enhancing the Eagle experience.

Each pageant contestant is required to raise a minimum of $200 in sponsorships. A non-refundable entry fee of $25 is due Aug. 6 at the first rehearsal. Contestants will compete in the following categories: NCCU Eagle wear, talent, formalwear and fundraising. Awards are based on total scores from each category.

Winners of the pageant will attend a series of events at NCCU, including the Mr. and Miss NCCU Coronation, the homecoming parade and football game, the NCCU vs. N.C. A&T State University basketball game and the Black History Parade.

The pageant will include the following awards:

•       Little Mister and Miss North Carolina Central University

•       Little Mister and Miss 1910

•       Little Mister and Miss Eagle Pride

•       Talent Award

•       Eagle Award

•       Formal Award
