NCCU Online Program Ranked Among Best For Value

The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Counselor Education Program was recently ranked by bestcounselingdegrees.net as one of the nation’s top 10 accredited online master’s counseling degree programs.

This recognition, which ranked programs based on course offerings and value, joins NCCU’s long list of best-of accolades, which includes being named one of North Carolina’s Best Four-Year Online Colleges for 2016-2017 by AffordableCollegesOnline.org.

To determine the rankings, the organization examined tuition costs as well as accreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs. According to the bestcounselingdegrees.net website, the listings are published to help prospective students find affordable degree programs for their career choices.

“We are so pleased to see the quality of the faculty and the counselor education program recognized as one of the top CACREP accredited online master’s program,” said Edward E. Moody, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Allied Professions in NCCU’s School of Education.  “This indicates that the work of our faculty has truly paid off.  We are excited about this recognition and look forward to many more students in North Carolina and beyond benefitting from this counselor education program.”

The online master’s counseling degree, offered through the Department of Allied Professions at the NCCU School of Education, has three CACREP-accredited programs: career counseling, clinical mental health counseling and school counseling.

The NCCU School of Education offers degree programs in elementary and middle-grades education; as well as educational technology; school administration; community; career and school counseling; communication disorders; and five concentrations in special education. All programs are fully accredited by their respective bodies.

The School of Education’s online offerings are consistently top ranked. Recently, U.S. News & World Report recognized the online master’s program in Educational Technology as the best online graduate program at any historically black college or university and second best among all institutions in North Carolina.
