Frequently Asked Questions
What are General Education requirements?

The General Education Curriculum (GEC) at North Carolina Central University prepares students academically and professionally for leadership in a culturally diverse world. Emphasis is placed on oral and written communications, scientific inquiry, technological proficiency, ethics and critical thinking. The GEC offers instruction in interdisciplinary as well as single-discipline courses. It is designed to meet the needs of the university’s diverse student population and is an integral part of the academic experience at NCCU.

In certain areas of study, students may be enrolled in courses based on demonstrated skill levels. Students have the opportunity to challenge their assigned course placement if they feel they should receive advanced standing.
