Durham Entertainment Options

Welcome to downtown Durham. Downtown is full of one-of-a-kind shops, award-winning restaurants featuring locally sourced food and international cuisine, Broadway shows, arts, culture, music, sports, and more for you to explore. Check out our interactive map for places to try, or just walk around and "Find Your Cool" as you go.

Centerfest Arts Festival

Since 1974, the Durham Arts Council has brought the Durham community together with CenterFest. As Durham’s signature arts festival, CenterFest showcases juried visual artists from near and far and fills multiple stages with music, dance, and more from local performers. Serious art shoppers will be dazzled by world-class ceramics, paintings, jewelry, fiber art, woodwork, and everything in between—much of it from Durham and Triangle-based creators. Singers, dance troupes, choirs, bands, jugglers, magicians, and performers of every stripe will provide continuous entertainment throughout the weekend. Kids will have a blast at the Creative Kids Zone, food vendors will keep guests fueled for fun, and Durham’s inspiring non-profit and government services sector will be on hand connecting with the community they serve. It all takes place in the heart of Durham’s historic downtown, a hub of local businesses and foodie culture that elevates the visitor experience!

Third Friday Durham

Durham is an artsy city, but on the Third Friday of the month, it gets particularly full of eclectic art and people. Artists and audiences collide in a cultural explosion at Third Friday, a day dedicated to self-guided tours of Durham's artistic hotspots. There are a ton of things to see and visit during Durham's art explosion. Locations can change each time, so it's best to keep up with their calendar to stay up to date on where to venture and art-hang! Durham Fresh Daily has some useful maps too.
