Domestic Applicants

In order to be considered a domestic applicant for the purposes of applying to a graduate, professional, or doctoral program at NCCU, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident.  Individuals who are permanent residents should upload a copy of their permanent resident card to the online application and expect to present the original card to an admissions officer.

General Admission Requirements 

  • Have at least a Bachelor’s degree
  • Online graduate admission application (Apply Now!)
  • Application Fee - $50.00 (The application fee can be paid by credit/debit card at the time you submit your application or by money order.  All money orders must be mailed to NCCU’s School of Graduate Studies.)
  • Official copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (must be received in sealed university envelopes)
  • At least two Application Evaluation and Recommendation Forms (access forms through online application and recommenders can also upload letters of recommendation)
  • GRE or GMAT scores - if required by degree program (cannot be more than 5 yrs. old)
  • Statement of personal/professional purpose

How to apply as a domestic graduate student?

  • Apply Now
  • On the graduate application home page, you will need to create an account - Your PIN will be automatically generated and you will be requested to create your password (Please write this information down in case you need to save and exit your application prior to submitting it and log back in to finish and submit the application at a later time.)
  • Complete all required questions (denoted by an asterisk (*) for all sections of the application
  • On the Enrollment Information page of the application and under the Program Information section, select 'Graduate' as your option for Applying As (select Doctor of Philosophy if applying the Ph.D. program; Certificate if applying to a certificate program; Special if you will be a non-degree seeking applicant;)
  • After you have selected the type of applicant you are Applying As, you must select the Program
  • After you have completed all required questions on all pages, submit your application (You will be given the option to pay the application fee at this point in the application process.)
