The NCCU School of Business Summer Youth Business and Entrepreneurship Academy (SYBEA) is a residential 10-day program held on the campus of NCCU. The Academy is open to high-achieving rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade students, with a "B" average or higher.  Selected students will receive business training and exposure to higher education on the campus of NCCU.

NCCU’s SYBEA includes lectures, corporate visits, business plan development and a case competition with the goal of preparing the next generation of business leaders. A panel of judges from the business community will evaluate the business case presented by teams of students and a prize will be awarded to the winning team. The academy includes:

  • Lectures taught by NCCU professors, local business leaders, and members of the School of Business Board of Visitors. Topics include introductory business courses in marketing, finance (financial literacy), entrepreneurship, leadership and ethics.
  • Corporate visits to help students gain exposure to a range of businesses and industries, as well as the application of business principles in the real world as they interact with local corporate executives during on-site visits.
  • Business plan development and team competition to allow participants to demonstrate their learning by developing and presenting a business plan to a panel of local executives.

To be a significant presence in the community through the establishing of an innovative, experiential entrepreneurship program for high performing high school students from lower income areas of North Carolina and abroad.  In alignment with corporations, civic organizations and local small businesses in the community, the academy seeks to deliver top notch entrepreneurship education to young innovators across our nation.
