How to Become an Eagle Ambassador

What is the Eagle Ambassador Program?

The Eagle Ambassador Program is an elite group of very special, very carefully chosen members.  Eagle Ambassadors are comprised of a diverse group of students from a variety of majors and undergraduate classifications.  Ambassadors serve the University by aiding in the recruiting efforts and routine affairs of the Undergraduate Admissions Office and other administrative offices as requested. Students receive community service hours in exchange for service rendered.

To voluntarily represent, positively promote, and uphold the university mission of “Truth and Service” in various programs and opportunities throughout the university and the community.

Requirements

All prospective Ambassadors must complete and satisfy the following requirements to qualify for membership.  Qualification for membership includes the following:

  • Submit a completed application, resume, and a recommendation letter:
  • Keisha Washington
  • Lead Eagle Ambassador
  • North Carolina Central University
  • Office of Undergraduate Admissions
  • Preferred cumulative grade point average of a 2.5 or better. 
  • An Interview with the staff of Undergraduate Admissions
  • Attend mandatory Ambassador training sessions
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills

Eagle Ambassador Job Description

Position Title:  Eagle Ambassador

Primary Function

  • To encourage prospective students to choose North Carolina Central University as their college choice.
  •  To provide quality customer service to prospective students and their parents through campus tours.
  •  To answer questions prospective students and parents may have about academic programs, student activities and campus life at North Carolina Central University.

Qualifications

Applicant must be a full time NCCU student in good academic and judicial standing. Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA with one recommendation which cannot be provided by anyone from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. However, recommendations can come from a North Carolina Central University official (i.e. faculty or staff), a mentor, community official, former instructors, etc. who can attest to the applicant’s professionalism, character, communication skills and scholastic ability. Complete the form now.

Eagle Ambassador Duties

  • Responsible for taking groups of one to 20 students around campus for tours.
  • Assist with the annual University Open House and other student alumni events hosted or co-hosted by the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
  • Attend monthly ambassador meetings.
  • Attend ambassador professional development workshops.
  •  Maintain professional uniformed attire when acting in the ambassador capacity. Attire will be polo, sweat, or t-shirt provided by the Undergraduate Admissions Office and khaki pants ambassadors must purchase.
  •  Complete assigned tours.

Senior Ambassador

A Senior Ambassador is at least a standing junior or senior with two years (four semesters) experience as an Eagle Ambassador. A Senior Ambassador is responsible for conducting tours, speaking with the prospective student(s) about the student life aspect of college, their college experiences and gives them insight on how to take advantages of different student activities opportunity. Also, Senior Ambassadors will have the opportunity to travel with Admissions Counselors to student outreach events.
