STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION
Connect. Grow. Serve
The McCrimmon-Montalvo administration is working hard to enhance the student body. The motto “Connect, grow, and serve” is really being put into full effect.
Connection with Durham:
NCCU and SGA has partnered with downtown Durham to show the Eagle family that fun is beyond Fayetteville Street. SGA as well Student Activities Board (SAB) enjoyed a day of baseball at the Durham Bulls Stadium. Also, another action that was taken to expand students horizon was when the Data Bus Connect allowed students to take a tour of Downtown Durham.
Connection with the Student Body:
Training Day, TruLife NCCU- This event was a great way to kick off the new school year! Training day was not the ordinary pep rally. The event was also a place for students to showcase their talents. Training day showed the new students and the continuing students what it’s really like to be an Eagle. The event was a huge success thanks to SGA, SAB, Greek Life, athletics, the Marching Sound Machine, and dance groups.
Here’s an Interesting Fact: #TruLifeNCCU became a Trending Topic on Twitter!
The Study Jam- SGA is the voice of the students and is highly motivated to better campus life. The end of semester Study Jam was an event held on campus to encourage students to study for final exams. However, this was not a boring study session. We all know an Eagle is not an ordinary barnyard fowl and that is why this study session provided food, games, and music!
Service:
SGA and NCCU are committed to community service. Make a Difference Day was an on campus community service event where students helped clean and plant flowers around the campus and surrounding neighborhoods. The Holiday Drive was an event where canned foods were collected and given to families. Skate for Breast Cancer was a skate-a-thon where all money raised was donated to the cancer society. Recently, SGA participated in the Million Meals food drive on MLK day. Million Meals is an organization designed to pack food and distribute it all over the country to stop hunger.
Grow:
SGA has spoken with Alumni, Board of Governors, and other campus officials and now check out these changes!!!!!!
