The CALL for Program Proposals

This annual conference is dedicated to educating the NCCU community on best practices and research in college student development, student affairs, and enrollment management.

The 2010 theme for Hear the CALL is "Soaring on the Legacy: A Focus on Civic Engagement in Higher Education." We hope to dedicate this year's conference to the mission of Campus Compact which "develops students' citizenship skills, helps campuses forge effective community partnerships, and provides resources and training for faculty seeking to integrate civic and community-based learning into the curriculum."

Program Proposal Online Process

Plan to present a program to share best practices and research on integrating civic engagement practices, developing citizenship, or helping to build community into your work with college students!

Program prosposals will be evaluated on the following items:
-Content specific to the learning objectives below
-Originality and new findings
-Collaboration between divisions and departments
-Relevance to the NCCU community
-Focus on the theme
-Clear methodology
-Specific results relevant to Student Affairs and Enrollment Management

Conference Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will gain an understanding of the definition and components of Civic Engagement.

2. Participants will gain an understanding of approaches that can be used mutually by academic affairs and student affairs professionals to implement effective student engagement efforts.

3. Participants will discover successful ways to engage students in Civic Engagement activities/coursework.
