Membership

Cohort Distinctions:

  1. Traditional Cohort: Rising first-time, first-year student at NCCU
  2. Transfer Cohort: Rising first-year transfer student at NCCU

Membership Qualifications:

  • Male student
  • 2.5 High School GPA or 2.5 transfer GPA (preferred)
  • On-campus resident
  • Five hours of community service
  • Proof of voter registration (if applicable)

Four Step Membership Process:

  1. Interest & Application: March 1 - May 1
    1. Qualified students may express interest by contacting the office by email (csp@nccu.edu), or by calling us at 919-530-7814.
    2. While expressing interest, please also request an application for membership.
    3. Complete and submit your application as soon as possible using the address listed on the application.
  2. Interview: May 2 - May 31
    1. Each successful application will receive an interview conducted by one of the CSP academic success coaches.
    2. Each interviewee is expected to be dressed in a shirt and tie at minimum.
    3. Long distance and/or out-of-state applicants may opt to take a phone interview.
  3. Acceptance: May 2 -July 31

    1. The academic success coach conducting the interview will notify each student upon his acceptance status.
    2. CSP acceptance will remain pending upon receiving full admission status from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
  4. CSP Orientation & Welcome

    Orientation: June 20 - 21 (Tentative)

    Welcome: Move-In Day 2013

    1. All accepted NCCU/CSP students will attend Orientation during the designated session.
    2. All oriented CSP students will attend the CSP Welcoming on the evening immediately following Move-In Day hours.

  1. Which African-American or minority male inspires you to achieve academically? What things are you doing in your life and community that would make your role model most proud?
  2. Using E.A.G.L.E. as an acronym, describe yourself using five characteristics. How does each one apply to you?
