Career Services offers progressive services and resources to help students choose and prepare for their careers, learn job search skills and find employment upon graduation.

We have trained counselors on staff to advise students and provide resources on the types of planning and preparation required to help them meet their career goals. This includes internships, job seeking, labor market resources, individual career counseling, workshops, and employer contacts via career fairs, panel discussions, computer technology, and presentations. It is recommended that students visit our office during their freshman year in order to begin their career development process and develop skills for life after graduation. Career Planning with Your Student
Effective Career Planning:

• Begins early —students should register with Career Services by Spring Semester of their First Year
• Includes gaining essential experience while in school through internships, part-time jobs, campus involvement and volunteer work
• Means learning that skills and experience open doors to employment
• Demands an active approach
• Requires flexibility

Steps to Career Planning
The student who takes an active approach to career planning should accomplish the following steps by Senior year.

• Assess interests, abilities, values and skills.
• Research careers in depth using online resources available through Career Services.
• Develop contacts by networking and conducting informational interviews.
• Gain experience / exposure (informational interviews, volunteer work, summer and part-time jobs, internships, extra-curricular activities)
• Develop marketable and transferable skills.
