WHAT'S NEW:

Passwords Management - Password Security Requirements Checklist (8:59 AM 10/20/2009)

A Password Security Requirements Checklist has been added to the password change form which dynamically validates your password as you type it. This checklist should help you easily determine if your new password meets NCCU's minimum password security requirements.

NCCU.edu - A to Z Filter (09/25/2009)

The A to Z feature on the front page has been enhanced with a keyword filter. You can now type in one or more keywords to narrow down the list of links.

Directory - Employee Kudos (4:13 PM 9/3/2009)

A "Kudos" feature has been added to the employee directory profiles. All employees and students can give Kudos to any employee resulting in an average score which is displayed on employee profile pages.

5/29/2009: Clubs & Organizations Database [COD] Version 1.0 - Initial Release Notes

(from NCCU's ITS Web Services' Blog)

What It Is:

NCCU's COD is a centralized database application, a single place for information about all of NCCU's officially sponsored Clubs and Organizations (primarily, but not necessarily exclusively for Students). The COD also displays the date it was founded, its current President (whose contact info link is automatically created by the application), Faculty Advisor/Department (for whom contact info links are also automatically generated), Chapter, Colors and a graphic logo or seal (optimally, 200px x 200px). If any of the above details do not exist in the database, it is ignored, thus not displayed in the page.

Recommended Use:

  • Go to the bottom of the page, and enter your search for the name of an organization
  • Click on the name of the Club/Organization for detailed info.
  • You can also list all campus organizations by type (e.g., Social, Fraternity/Sorority, Honorary, Academic., etc.)
  • Or, list organizations by the department associated with that organization.

NOTE: By default, organizations that are not associated with a specific Academic or Administrative department are listed under the Department of Student Affairs. Contact them to update and correct your club/organization's data

Bug Fixes:

  • Not Applicable

Known Issues:

  • None

Future Considerations:

  • Possibly, allowing Departmental Web Liaisons to directly update the database for those Clubs/Orgs under which fall under their Departmental purview.

Get more details about this and all of our applications, staying abreast of all of NCCU's latest site developments and updates via NCCU ITS Web Services' EagleBlog.

5/20/2009: Changes To the Main/Entry Page.

In the biz, we call it, Refactoring. What is it? Essentially we've moved stuff around, to reflect what our users want, in an effort to help you more easily find what you seek. Refactoring Factors:

1) Most importantly, the upper right hand side, now indicates whether or not you are logged into to the Intranet/myEOL.

refactor 1  ===>  refactor 2

Why is this so important? Primarily, because it has become necessary to accommodate NCCU's many Authentication Sensitive web pages/applications. Huh? For example: If you view NCCU's Forms and Documents Repository from the "outside world (i.e., if you are not logged in), you'll see documents that are targeted for your myEOL *Log-In Group* (e.g., Student, Faculty or Staff, instead of content target toward Prospective Student and the General Public/Community).

Visitors (i.e., those not logged-in) will see an entirely different set of documents. Why? Because the FDR contains so many documents, properly targeting that content eliminates clutter. This is how you will find what you need a lot faster. This refactoring paves the way for more tightly integrated authentication-sensitive apps of the very near future. In other words, the more the our web site "knows" about who you are, the better EagleWeb can deliver what you need.
NOTE: Within the refactored template, the myEOL link takes you directly to the main Intranet page, but the "Log In" link returns you to the page you were on (after successful log-in).
2) We swapped the content in the lower 2nd and 3rd sections of the page. This emphasizes the content within our News/Events, Academics and & "Quick Links". You might be surprised at how many clicks this these sections will save you. We believe the content you really want (according to our analytics) is now more "findable". Let us know.

3) The icons formerly in the upper left hand corner icons have been moved. Those not-so-popular navigation elements still exist (within the Quick Links, and within the drop box on the left hand side of all NCCU's internal template pages). And if you miss those elements, that content will soon become far more easily accessed and searched. Consider that statement as another way of saying, "Stay Tuned, EagleWeb Fans..."
