Bondarev has received $99,970 from the U.S. Army Research Office to address the fundamentals and applications of electromagnetic interactions in low-dimensional nanoscale materials. This research will provide guidance for future experiments that may result in the creation of new research subfields that support solar energy conversion and storage technologies.

Yang was awarded a grant of $65,000 by the U.S. Department of the Army to study ways of decontamination in an environment where anthrax spores are present. This research will lead to protection of military and first-line emergency personnel at high risk of anthrax exposure.

Dr. Alade Tokuta has been awarded grant of $19,453 from the UNC General Administration to establish a summer enrichment site at NCCU for high school students focusing on robotics. Titled GEAR UP for Robotics and NExT, the six-day summer program will be coordinated by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
