HPCC 3+4 Education Program Agreements
Boston University Early Medical School Selection Program (EMSSP)
The Boston University Early Medical School Selection Program (EMSSP) is designed to provide an early decompressed transition into the medical school curriculum through provisional acceptance into medical school at the completion of two or three years of undergraduate study.
Students accepted into the Boston University School of Medicine EMSSP remain at their undergraduate college throughout their junior year and pursue programs of studies that will best prepare them to spend their senior year at Boston University. Students enroll in at least one six-week summer course at Boston University in each of one or two summers prior to spending their senior year at Boston University.
Students should complete the maximum number of science courses required by NCCU prior to spending their senior year at Boston University. During their senior year at Boston University, students retain degree candidacy at NCCU while participating in individualized programs of study, satisfying the undergraduate academic requirements, and participating in a decompressed transition into the medical school curriculum.
After earning a baccalaureate degree from NCCU, a student who performed at the prescribed level may matriculate at the Boston University School of Medicine during the next academic year. Having already fulfilled the requirements for certain medical school courses (those modular medical courses in which students obtained a grade of B or better), students are able to pursue a decompressed medical school curriculum. Upon completion of the medical school requirements (normally requiring four years), the degree of Doctor of Medicine is granted by Boston University. Howard University College of Pharmacy
The Howard University College of Pharmacy (HUCOP) and NCCU's partnership is a 3 + 4 educational program for eligible students. The students will have an opportunity to earn their Bachelor of Science at NCCU and Doctor of Pharmacy at Howard University (HUCOP) in seven years by combining their senior year of undergraduate study and their professional year 1 at HUCOP. The purpose of the program is to assist in increasing people of color in pharmacy. For additional information, contact the Health Professions Career Center.
Rutgers School of Dental Medicine
The Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) has entered into articulation agreements with NCCU for the purpose of granting a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree and a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DDM) degree in less than the normal eight-year period. Under the agreements, the student would complete certain required courses for three years at the undergraduate school and four years at RSDM. A Bachelor of Science degree is granted by the undergraduate school upon completion of the freshman year at RSDM. For additional information, contact the Health Professions Career Center.
