Message from the Chancellor: Tragedy at UNC Charlotte

April 30, 2019

Dear NCCU Community:

Our nation is shocked by the tragedy that occurred today at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, our sister institution in the UNC System.

I have reached out to Dr. Philip L. Dubois, chancellor of UNC Charlotte, to offer our thoughts of support and sympathy to the university’s students, faculty and staff. The menacing and cruel act that occurred on that campus today caused loss of life and disrupted academic progress for thousands of UNC Charlotte students as they prepared for their final exams.

North Carolina Central University stands in solidarity with the Niners family today and moving forward. #NinerStrong #NinerNation #UNCCStrong

In Truth and Service,

Johnson O. Akinleye, Ph.D.

Chancellor
