NCCU To Restore Full Operations at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11; Continue Under Condition 2 Until 10 a.m. 

North Carolina Central University will restore full operations beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 11, and will operate under Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) of the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy until 10 a.m. tomorrow.

When traveling on campus, please continue to use extreme caution on all roadways and walkways due to freezing temperatures and potential black ice. Be aware that heavy snow and ice may unexpectedly fall from the top and edges of buildings as temperatures slowly rise. If you see anything hazardous, please report it immediately to the NCCU Police Department at 919-530-6106.

NCCU Adverse Weather Alert: Campus Operations Update, Dec. 10

 

NCCU continues to operate under Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) until 5 p.m. today, Dec. 10.

 

Please note the following areas with abbreviated schedules today, Dec. 10 (new updates are highlighted in yellow):

 

NCCU Law School

  • The NCCU Law School is open until 5 p.m.

James E. Shepard Library

  • The James E. Shepard Library is closed.

Division of Student Affairs

  • The Campus Recreation Fitness Center and Gym and A.E. Student Union are closed.
  • The Student Health Center and Counseling Center are closed. Students in need of emergency care should call NCCU Campus Police at 919-530-6106. For urgent care, visit Duke Urgent Care South located at 5716 Fayetteville Road, Durham, N.C. (919-572-1868). Students with health questions may also reach out to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Health Line at 877-477-2424. Students with counseling needs may also utilize the attached online resources.  

Business and Auxiliary Services

  • All Eagle Dining Services’ locations is closed, including Faculty and Staff Dining in the W.G. Pearson Dining Hall.
  • The University Bookstore is open until 3 p.m.
  • The Mail Center is closed and no mail will be delivered on campus.
  • Remaining Business and Auxiliary Service units are operating on a modified schedule per staff availability.

North Carolina Central University will continue to operate under Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) until 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2018. 

The following areas have abbreviated schedules for tomorrow, Dec. 10:

 

Division of Student Affairs

  • The Student Health Center will be closed. Students in need of emergency care should call NCCU Campus Police at 919-530-6106. NCCU Adverse Weather Update: Winter Storm Diego, Dec. 9

Winter Storm Diego continues to move through the Triangle Region with up to 8 inches of snowfall and .16 inches of ice left in its path.

North Carolina Central University will operate under Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) of the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy beginning at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Dec. 9, through 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10.

According to the policy, under Condition 2: “The University remains open on a very limited basis, but has formally suspended all but mandatory operations due to minimal staffing levels. Employees designated or temporarily assigned as mandatory must report to work as directed; all other employees may not report to work or must leave the workplace when this status takes effect.”

Dec. 7, 2018, 12:52 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Watch for Durham and other counties in Central North Carolina beginning tomorrow evening, Saturday, Dec. 8, through Monday, Dec. 10. Forecasts indicate that the Triangle region may experience up to five inches of snowfall with .04 inches of ice accumulation and wind gusts of up to 25 miles per hour.

Adverse weather conditions are not anticipated to interfere with the 132nd Commencement Exercises scheduled for 9 a.m. tomorrow, Dec. 8. The ceremony will proceed as scheduled.
