Annual Valentine's Concert to Feature NCCU Big Band


The North Carolina Central University Big Band Jazz Ensemble will participate in its annual Valentine’s Day performance alongside musicians from Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This is the 15th annual Valentine’s Day performance by the three Triangle jazz ensembles.

Under the direction of Jazz Studies Program Director Ira Wiggins, Ph.D., the NCCU Big Band Jazz Ensemble has earned high accolades at numerous American and international festivals. The ensemble also has performed at the White House on multiple occasions. Performers featured with the Big Band Jazz Ensemble include many jazz greats, such as Jimmy Heath, Branford Marsalis, Joey Calderazzo, James Moody, Kenny Burrell and others.
