NCCU 130th Commencement Details


North Carolina Central University (NCCU) will hold its Fall Commencement ceremony at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, in the McDougald–McLendon Arena to award doctoral, master’s, professional and baccalaureate degrees.

Doors will open at 6 a.m. Please plan to arrive early as there will be more than 600 graduates, one of the largest Fall Commencement ceremonies in the university’s history. Graduates will receive three tickets for guests. Tickets are required for admission into the McDougald–McLendon Arena and the university will work to accommodate all guests with valid tickets.

Overflow Accommodations:

Simulcast viewing sites will be available at the locations below. The Commencement exercise will be streamed online at www.nccu.edu/media/live. The ceremony will also be telecast to overflow audiences in the following viewing sites:

  • B.N. Duke Auditorium – 1851 Fayetteville St.
  • Miller-Morgan Auditorium – 500 Nelson St.
  • A. E. Student Union Building – 507 Nelson St.
  • H.M. Michaux Jr. School of Education Auditorium – 700 Cecil St


The university will have open parking throughout the campus for the ceremony. Primary parking sites for attendees will be the Latham Parking Deck at 615 Lawson St., the lot at the corner of Nelson and Fayetteville streets, and the lower-level lot at the Mary Townes Science Complex near Lawson and Concord streets.

  • Main parking area for visitors - Latham Parking Deck - Any open space in the deck and surface lot
  • Other parking areas - Nelson Street and Lower Level of the Mary Townes Science Complex
  • Handicap parking - 615 Lawson St. rear lot, McDougald–McLendon Arena reserved lot and Latham Parking Deck (nine handicap spaces available)

Parking on sidewalks and grassy areas is prohibited.

Please monitor weather conditions and use extreme caution on roadways and walkways.
