
The North Carolina Central University School of Law will host a series of workshops for the community focusing on child support and citizen rights. All events will be held in the Turner Law Building at 6 p.m.
Oct. 23: “Two Sides of Domestic Violence,” 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Attorneys Deria Hayes and Ralph Fraiser will discuss the perspectives of both the victim and the accused in domestic violence protective order proceedings.
Oct. 24: “Fair Housing” 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Attorneys Jack Holtzman and Carol Comrie will discuss housing issues, including what property is covered property, what are your rights, how to make a complaint, and whom to contact for help.
Oct. 29: “Nonprofit Governance and Management Series” 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Attorney Evan Lewis and nonprofit organization consultant Darryl Lester will discuss how to promote effective nonprofit governance by understanding both public interest and legal responsibilities.
Oct. 30: “Everything You Need to Know about Domestic Violence But were Afraid to Ask” 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Representatives from the NCCU Law Domestic Violence Clinic will answer questions that relate to domestic violence.
Nov. 6: “Child Support Show Cause Orders” 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Attorney Nakia Davis, director of the family law clinic at NCCU, will discuss what to do if you find yourself with a contempt order for nonpayment and face the possibility of incarceration.
