NCCU Names Associate Provost

Dr. E.K. (Eun) Park

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) has appointed E.K. (Eun) Park as associate provost and dean of Research and Sponsored Programs.

In this role, Park will help advance the academic mission of the university by providing strategic leadership for all research initiatives and activities on campus. He brings a wealth of experience to the position, having recently served as special assistant to the vice president for Research and the Graduate College at Kennesaw State University, managing academic, student and research affairs. Previously, he oversaw the Research and Sponsored Programs Office and the Office of Graduate Studies at California State University from 2011 to 2015.

Park has extensive research and teaching experience, and has held leadership positions at a number of universities and federal agencies, including City University of New York-Staten Island, the University of Missouri at Kansas City, the U.S. Naval Academy and others. As program director at the National Science Foundation from 2006 to 2009, he managed the Network Science and Engineering program and the Communication and Information Foundations program, among other initiatives. His research interests include big data and data analytics, bioinformatics, computational intelligence and web engineering.

Park holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from Northwestern University, as well as master’s and bachelor’s degrees in computer science from Western Illinois University. A native of Korea, Park began his educational career at Kon-Kuk University in Seoul.
