Safe Summer Send-Off

The Residence Hall Association and the Department of Residential Life are partnering with the A.E. Student Union, Project S.A.F.E., Student Health and Counseling Services and the HIV Prevention Trials Network at UNC-CH to host the 3rd annual Safe Summer Send-Off. The Send-Off event is a “play day” for students with an educational twist. It is designed to encourage students to demonstrate safe practices not only over the summer, but in their everyday lives. Alcohol, drug and safe-sex awareness, health and wellness and other topics will be addressed. Below are some of the activities planned:

  • Organizational booths with fun and interactive activities
  • Drunk-driving exercise
  • Inflatables
  • Zumba
  • Basketball competitions
  • Dunking booth
  • DJ
  • Ice cream, snow cones, candy, popcorn
  • Faculty and Staff vs. Students tug of war
  • Face painting

The event will be held on April 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. on the practice football field (rain location is the McDougald–McLendon Gym). For more information, contact Renee Clark at rclark9@nccu.edu.

Volunteers are needed to help set up and break down equipment. You will need to arrive at 9 a.m. that morning and stay till 4 p.m. You will receive 6 community service hours for your services. To sign up, contact Mark Queenmqueen@eagles.nccu.edu or Jared Long jlong@eagles.nccu.edu.
