NCCU Cancels Classes on Monday, Sept. 17, Condition 1

NCCU To Move to Condition 1 on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 5 p.m.; Classes Canceled on Monday, Sept. 17; University to Restore Full Operations at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18

North Carolina Central University will transition to Condition 1 (Reduced Operations) beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16. All classes on Monday, Sept. 17, are canceled. NCCU will resume its normal operations, including classes, at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Under Condition 1, the university remains open, but certain non-mandatory operations may be reduced due to more limited staffing. Mandatory employees must report to or remain at work. All other employees have the option to report late, leave early, or not work at all; however, the employee is responsible for informing his/her supervisory chain in a timely manner of all such decisions. Employees must code available leave for any work time missed during a Condition 1 event, unless the supervisor authorized of site work arrangements or the Governor issues an Executive Order permitting leave with pay for any missed work time.

Please use caution when walking outdoors in high winds as limbs could fall from trees and loose items could be blown around campus. Please also use caution when driving in low lying areas as flooding may not be easily visible. If you notice downed power lines, please call the NCCU Police Department (919-530-6106) and report them immediately; avoid the area as the hazard can extend for some distance around the area.

For additional updates, please monitor the NCCU website, university social media platforms (FacebookTwitter, Instagram), email, or call the Adverse Weather Line – 919-530-7220.
