The Rev. Jesse Jackson will visit North Carolina Central University as the headline speaker at a Get-Out-the-Vote rally on Friday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. in the Miller - Morgan Building Auditorium.
The visit by Jackson, a veteran of the civil rights movement, has been organized by the North Carolina Legislative Black Caucus. Before the rally, he will meet on the NCCU campus with members of the caucus. The NCCU rally will be followed by a similar event at UNC–Chapel Hill at 2 p.m.
In announcing the visit, State Sen. Floyd B. McKissick Jr., chairman of the caucus, said, “Rev. Jackson has always embraced the concept of building a Rainbow Coalition of people from all backgrounds to actively vote and to be engaged in the political process. We are honored that he has taken time to be a part of this important event.”
