NCCU Launches New Mobile App

Staying connected to North Carolina Central University has just become easier thanks to the new NCCU mobile application "NCCU Mobile."

Just launched, the free app is available on both the Android and Apple platforms.

The app provides information on NCCU events, courses and library resources, as well as athletics. Users can donate to the university and access campus emergency information using the app. It will also deliver the latest news about NCCU, including video and photography elements.

Kimberly Phifer-McGhee, director of NCCU's Division of Extended Studies, said when she and her team began planning for the app a year ago, their goal was simply to allow online students to connect to course content on mobile devices.

But after meeting with technology professionals at Blackboard Inc., Phifer-McGhee said they expanded the vision.

“Our goal became three-part: allow online students to connect to course content on mobile devices; support retention and recruitment; and maintain a connection with NCCU alumni,” she said.

The app is expected to increase the university’s public visibility and raise awareness among potential students.

Free downloads are available from iTunes and Google Play (search "NCCU Mobile").
