DEEGS Asst. Professor Completes Half-Ironman Triathlon

Dr. Mulrooney at the beginning of the swim start in Lake Michigan.

Despite being a veteran of 10 marathons, DEEGS Assistant Professor Tim Mulrooney recently completed his first Half-Ironman Triathlon in Benton Harbor, Michigan, on August 4th.  After completing a 1.2 mile swim in Lake Michigan, he rode his bike 56 miles through the area of Southwestern Michigan and Northern Indiana known as ‘Michiana.’  He completed the triathlon with a 13.1 mile run through the Whirlpool World Headquarters, located just north of downtown Benton Harbor.  While difficult, it was a great experience and an opportunity to see a different part of the country.
