Michael Vick to Speak at NCCU, Oct. 10

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) will welcome Michael Vick, former NFL player and Fox Sports analyst, for the Rock the Lyceum Lecture Series on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in B.N. Duke Auditorium. The event will take place at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Vick, a Virginia native, began his professional career with the NFL in 2001, serving as a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. During his 16-year stint with the NFL, he played for the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Vick retired from the NFL in 2017 and began serving as a coaching intern with the Kansas City Chiefs. Also in 2017, Vick was named a studio analyst for Fox Sports, providing commentary for its sports talk show “Fox NFL Kickoff.”

In April 2018, it was announced that Vick would serve as offensive coordinator for Atlanta’s new Alliance for American Football league team. The league is set to begin its first season in 2019.

The Rock the Lyceum Lecture Series, sponsored by NCCU’s Office of Student Engagement and Leadership and the Lyceum Committee, will continue through the 2018-19 academic year. Other speakers include:

  • Jan. 16 – Roland Martin, CNN contributor and senior analyst for the “Tom Joyner Morning Show.”
  • Feb. 20 – Amara La Negra, Latin-American singer and cast member of VH1’s “Love and Hip-Hop Miami.”
