Alumnus Named Chief of Police

Renarde D. Earl

Renarde D. Earl was recently named Fayetteville State University (FSU) associate vice chancellor for Police and Public Safety/Chief of Police.

Earl will be responsible for providing leadership and support to the FSU’s Police and Public Safety Department.

He has nearly 25 years of experience in law enforcement. Previously, he served as chief/director of Campus Police and Public Safety for Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Prior to joining Forsyth Tech, Earl was a police sergeant with the Wake Forest University Police Department and also a police officer for the City of Winston-Salem.

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from NCCU. He also completed course work at the West Point Leadership Program, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association’s Executive, Command and Supervisor Leadership Institutes, the Southern Police Institute’s Chief Executive Leadership program and the Harvard Kennedy School’s Crisis Leadership in Higher Education Program.
