Sign Up Today: Cycling Eagles Bike Share at NCCU!

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and Zagster launched  a new bike-share program that will provide more than 10,000 students, faculty and staff  with a convenient, affordable and healthy way to get around. The Department of Transportation unveiled the program at a kickoff ceremony on Aug. 17.

Cycling Eagles will offer cruiser bikes at two campus stations for members to use for on-demand, local trips. The George Street Station is located at the A.E. Student Union and the Brant Street Plaza Station is located near Ruffin Hall and Eagle Landing.

Riders can join the program by signing up for a $15 annual membership ($10 if you sign up by Sept. 30). (Use promo code: EaglesZag and receive a free bike helmet).

Membership includes two free hours of bike use per ride on weekdays and three free hours on weekends. Additional time is charged at $2 per hour. Riders must be age 18 or older.

Participating in the Cycling Eagles bike share is easy. Riders may locate available bikes through the Zagster mobile app — available for iPhone and Android — or online at zagster.com/nccu. One tap in the app automatically unlocks a ring lock on the rear wheel, allowing riders to get rolling in seconds. This hybrid model, which blends dock less locking for mid-trip stops with fixed station locations for beginning and ending rides, allows users to plan their trips around their destinations — and not around station locations. The built-in lock on Zagster bikes give users the freedom to ride wherever they want, without the common bike-share limitation of parking only at designated stations. Returning a bike to a designated Zagster station and ending the ride in the app makes the bike available for the next person to enjoy.
