A Message from the Chancellor

Please join me in thanking Raymond Pierce who has served admirably as dean of the North Carolina Central University School of Law for more than six years. Dean Pierce has announced his resignation effective June 30, 2012, to commence the next phase of his career as a partner with the law firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP.

Dean Pierce brought to the law school a level of energy, passion and commitment that has enabled it to achieve national recognition. The School of Law is one of NCCU’s signature programs, and we are committed to building on the success of Dean Pierce, the talents of the faculty and the accomplishments of our alumni.

Provost Thomas will establish a committee to conduct a national search. The committee will be comprised of faculty and key constituents of the law school. Our goal will be to have a new dean in place by July 1, 2012.

Again, please join me in expressing appreciation to Dean Pierce for his leadership.
