Alumna Soars in Social Media

Simone Shepherd

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) alumna Simone Shepherd has taken social media by storm. Shepherd, a recent guest on the Steve Harvey talk show, discussed her success as a social media icon and also gave audience members tips for success.

Shepherd has 23,000 followers on Twitter, 412,000 followers on Instagram and an astounding 3 million followers on Vine. With her extensive social media following, Shepherd produces digital content for major brands such as Trident, Wendy’s and Toyota that she shares on her social media pages.

After obtaining a bachelor’s in theater from North Carolina Central University in 2004, she began her career as an actress on a Black Entertainment Television reality show in 2007.

In 2009, she visited NCCU, where she performed a comedy sketch entitled, “Where’s the Remote?”

Shepherd has performed in the starring role of the romantic comedy “Tons of Love” and has a recurring role on a new reality show on an E! Network channel reality show.

She worked with entrepreneur and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons to write and produce the YouTube series “All Def Digital.” Shepherd also has produced projects for comedian and actor Marlon Wayans.

Shepherd currently stars in the YouTube series “Hood Central,” which has more than 50,000 subscribers. Shepherd is also featured on another well-known YouTube network show, “PrettyFunnyFish.”
