Millennium Hotel FAQ

Q. Who is the designated person to contact about NCCU housing at the Millennium?

Q. What is the status with the Millennium Hotel?

A. The State Property Office is in the final negotiation stages with the hotel.

Q. How many students will reside at the Millennium?
A. 300 students maximum.

Q. Will students reside among Millennium Hotel guests?

A. No. The Millennium Hotel has established a physically separated wing for students.

Q. What incentives are being provided for students who are being relocated?
A. If a resident is being relocated, he or she will receive a $100.00 book voucher.

Q. What is the cost to live at the Millennium Hotel?
A. Millennium Hotel per semester rate is $2660.00 per semester.

Q. What is the cost difference from my current assignment?
A. Students who were assigned to a 3-bedroom Eagle Landing apartment will receive a credit of $501.90.
B. Students who were assigned to a 4-bedroom Eagle Landing apartment will receive a credit of $330.09.
C. Students who were assigned to Eagleson will pay an additional $595.70.
D. Students who were assigned to George Street will pay an additional $322.21.

Q. What services will students receive at the Millennium Hotel?
A. Students will receive the same services that on campus students receive such as internet connections, lounge spaces, weekly bathroom cleaning. Residential Life will have an RD and 8 RAs assigned to the hotel. Shuttle service will be provided to and from campus. The shuttle will run from 7 am – 12 midnight.

Q. What are the sizes of the beds?

A. Residents will have Queen-size beds. Residents will also have 2 desks and chairs, and a wardrobe/closet.

Q. What is the expected duration of the contract?

A. We have contracted for the Fall 2009 semester with the option to renew for the Spring 2010 semester.

Q. Who will reside at the Millennium Hotel?

A. Juniors, seniors, graduate and law students will be placed at the Millennium Hotel.

Q. If I am a junior or senior with a current housing assignment on campus can I be moved to the Millennium Hotel?
A. Yes. We will move juniors, seniors, graduate and Law students and with on campus housing assignments to the Millennium Hotel in order to accommodate freshmen and sophomores on the NCCU campus.
Juniors and seniors who are on the waitlist will have the second priority for a space at the Millennium Hotel. If there is space available after all waitlisted students have received an assignment, Residential Life will assign students based on date of application.

Q. What if I am a Junior or Senior with an on-campus assignment and I want to volunteer to reside at the Millennium Hotel?
A. Please notify Residential immediately so you can be reassigned.

Q. What if I am on the waitlist but I have secured housing off-campus; what should I do?

A. Please notify Residential Life immediately, so your space can be reassigned to a student who does not have housing.

Q. If I am assigned to the Millennium, how do I pay for my housing?
A. Students who are assigned to the Millennium will receive a housing charge on their account and should remit payment to the Bursar’s Office the same as if they were on the NCCU campus.

Q. What meal plan is required if I am assigned to the Millennium?
A. Millennium residents are required to have a 10 meal plan. Graduate and Law students are not required to have a meal plan.

Q. What if I am being moved to the Millennium from on campus and I want to cancel my housing prior to checking in?
A. Please send written notification of your desire to cancel to the Residential Life office by e-mail, fax, or coming to the office and filling out a cancellation form. Once the written notification is received the housing charges will be removed and the housing deposit will be refunded. Students will need to contact Eagle Card Office at (919) 530-5010 to cancel their meal plans.

Q. What if I am being moved to the Millennium from on campus and I want to cancel my housing after I have moved in?
A. The student would be in violation of the terms of the 2009-2010 housing agreement and would pay 50% of the price of the full agreement term (one semester’s rent).


Update on Campus Crossings


Q. What is different about housing at Campus Crossings for 2009-2010?
A. NCCU Residential Life no longer leases the property for our students. Students who reside at Campus Crossings have signed individual leases with the complex.

Q. How will payments be made?
A. Students will pay their rent directly to the apartment complex. Payments cannot be processed through the University.
B. Students are encouraged to pay for a full semester’s rent when they receive their financial aid refund check rather than paying on a monthly basis.
