Faculty, staff, or students using a license plate or hangtag issued by their state Division of Motor Vehicles that displays the International Symbol of Access must also display a campus parking permit issued by the University Police.
Parking decals for faculty, staff, or students issued by the University Police require you to pay a registration fee, submit a copy of the handicap permit and permanently display a valid permit on the vehicle registered.
For any vehicle that is parked in a handicap space on NCCU campus, the handicap placard must be issued to the driver of the vehicle, except for instances in which the driver is providing an escort for the placard holder. Drivers in violation of G.S. 20-37.6 (e) (2) will be issued a state citation.
It is unlawful (1) to park or leave standing in a space designated with a sign for handicapped parking any vehicle not displaying a distinguishing license plate, removable hangtag, or temporary removable hangtag; (2) for any person not qualifying for the rights and privileges extended to handicapped persons to exercise or attempt to exercise such rights or privileges by the unauthorized use of a distinguishing license plate, removable hangtag or temporary removable hangtag; and (3) to park or leave standing any vehicle so as to obstruct a curb or curb cut for handicapped persons.
Vehicles found in violation of the above regulations will be cited and towed at the owner's expense.
