At approximately 1:08 p.m. on April 12, there was an attempted armed robbery in Eagleson Residence Hall. The suspect displayed a weapon and fled without obtaining any property. The campus was placed in lockdown while the incident was investigated. While the campus was on lockdown, a third party reported that there was a gunman in Mary Townes Science Complex, which was a false sighting. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 2:52 p.m. The suspect is described as black male wearing a T-shirt with faded blue shorts and dreadlocks.

NCCU complies with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in all programs and activities (including sexual harassment and sexual violence) in the University's educational programs and activities.
