The Durham Police Department reported that an aggravated assault took place on Monday, Aug. 12, about 1:17 a.m., on the 1400 block of South Alston Avenue, across the street from the NCCU campus. Witnesses said that a group of four to six males between the ages of 16-20 approached the victims and, after a short exchange of words, one of the men fired two shots from a handgun toward the victims. The suspects were described as black males, several of whom wore black shorts and white T-shirts; one was described as having a white T-shirt, red shorts, and a red hat. Suspects fled the scene in a car southbound on Highway 55 in a car.  No injuries were reported and no NCCU students were present during the incident.
