Professional Poster Resources

Many resources on the web can help you design a professional poster. Here are a few of our favorites:

Images

These sites have images you can download and use for free. Wherever you get images, keep a record of the web addresses of each image. All images have copyrights, and you may need to cite your sources on the poster.

Templates

Feel free to use one of the PowerPoint templates with the NCCU logo below. You can use them as is or modify them to fit your needs. Please note: The NCCU logo appears distorted in the previews, but it appears correctly in the PowerPoint file.

Printing your professional poster

The Center for University Teaching and Learning can print posters to support your research or instruction. The Center can print posters in limited quantities up to 36 inches in width. For weekend or after-hours printing, any quick-printing store such as Kinko’s can print posters for a fee.

Printing guidelines:

  • E-mail your file to CUTL@nccu.edu a couple days before you need it.
  • Include in the e-mail: the dimensions of the poster, date you need it printed, and the number of prints you want. Please note: depending on the poster size, we can print only 2 or 3 copies of your poster.
  • Name your file with your first and last name. For example, Appleseed_Johnny.ppt.
  • The Center’s printer has a maximum width of 36 inches. To change the dimensions of a PowerPoint file, go to the “Design” tab, then "Page Setup" and enter your dimensions.
  • If you use unconventional fonts, please include those in the e-mail as well. PowerPoint does not embed fonts.
  • If you designed your poster on an Apple computer, please preview it on a Windows PC before submitting it to The Center.
