Welcome New Faculty

Welcome to North Carolina Central University! We are writing to invite you to attend the 2009 New Faculty Orientation which will be held Monday, August 10th on the campus of North Carolina Central University in Room 1221 of the Mary Townes Science Complex. We are delighted to have another excellent group of faculty join our growing university. The New Faculty Orientation is designed to give new faculty members the information they need to make a smooth transition to the university. Other opportunities will include departmental meetings, the faculty institute, a new faculty Blackboard site, workshops, and other activities through the Center for University Teaching and Learning.

We are pleased that the orientation will address the following topics that will be beneficial to new faculty:

  • Support from James E. Shepard Library
  • Parking and ID cards 
  • Faculty and Student Information Technology Resources: Smart Classrooms, software, web resources, ITS Help Desk, etc. 
  • The NCCU Faculty Manual; syllabus requirements and recommendations 
  • Blackboard 
  • Sponsored Research assistance 
  • Academic service learning opportunities for your classes 
  • Faculty development opportunities through the Center for University Teaching and Learning, and other units.


The Department of Human Resources will conduct the New Faculty Benefits orientation on Wednesday, August 12th in the Hubbard Chemistry Building from 2:00pm – 3:00pm.  The Benefits orientation is held every Wednesday. For more information on benefits, please feel free to contact the Human Resources department at 919-530-5146. 

We will provide the materials for the items listed above at the New Faculty Orientation. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you personally to North Carolina Central University!
