Cornelius Wooten, PhD, serves as vice chancellor of Administration and Finance for North Carolina Central University. He came to NCCU on December 3, 2018.
Dr. Wooten provides oversight and management for the university’s administrative and financial operations. These duties include assessing the strategic deployment of resources and budgetary allocations and transactions, as well as the creation of financial models to aid in university planning and decision-making. Dr. Wooten also supervises all of NCCU’s facilities and maintenance operations and the budgetary and accounting activities, including the Purchasing and Central Receiving departments, the Environmental and Health and Safety offices, and Business and Auxiliary Services. Additionally, Dr. Wooten is a key contributor to strategic initiatives and the development of university policies.
Prior to NCCU, Dr. Wooten served as vice president for Administration and Finance at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IAP), a position he held for 10 years. Dr. Wooten previously served as vice president for administrative affairs at the University of West Florida, vice president for Administration and Finance at the University of Central Oklahoma, vice president for Administrative Services at Western Illinois University and vice president for Business and Finance at Lincoln University in Missouri. Dr. Wooten also held faculty positions as an assistant and associate professor of business. He is active in a number of civic organizations.
Dr. Wooten earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education from Florida State University, a Master of Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University, and a Bachelor of Science in accounting and business administration from Savannah State College.
