Adjunct Lecturer in Acting in Department of Theatre & Dance


Tara-Whitney Rison is a graduate of the The University of NC Greensboro, holding an MFA in Acting as well as a BA in Theatre Performance with a 2nd Concentration in Business Mngmt. from North Carolina Central University. Tara-Whitney has performed in numerous productions in the Triangle and Triad including but not limited to: BRABO, Harriet Jacobs, I am the Raven, Banned Books Project, For Colored Girls, MiddleTown, Burning Coal Summer Festival and others. She has worked at numerous theatre companies including ManBitesDog Theater, LittleGreen Pig, Burning Coal and UNC. In the summer 2014 she worked with Peppercorn Children's Theatre in Winston-Salem Touring and starring in an original piece on Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African-American Female Astronaut to go in to outer space.

She has performed at other Professional Regional Theatres including Triad Stage performing as The Ghost of Christmas Past in 2012 & 2013 at The Hanesbrand Theatre in Winston-Salem. Tara-Whitney has done several film projects and Voice-Over work throughout her career. She worked as Development Coordinator for Durham Center for Senior Life & was on the DFT Board before entering the Master of Fine Arts in Acting program at UNC Greensboro in the fall 2012. Tara currently serves as an Actor/Facilitator at UNC Chapel Hill with a group located in the Wellness Dept. called Interactive Theatre Carolina, a troupe that uses Theatrical pieces and performances to spark discussions about different topics that affect health and well-being along with Social Justice topics including Racism, Sexism, Gender Stereotypes, Emotional Abuse, and others. She continues to stay motivated and passionate about her work as a dedicated actress and business professional and is excited about her ever growing career post-graduate studies.
