Dr. Sherry Eaton earned a bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Howard University and a doctorate in School Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She served as the Director of the University Testing Center from its inception in 1987 until 1997. She joined the psychology department full time in 2001. Owing to the breath of her training and experiences, she can and has taught most of the courses in the undergraduate curriculum and has independently developed and taught a cultural diversity course in the graduate program. A provisionally licensed psychologist, she specializes in working with children and their families. Additionally, Dr. Eaton has served as a consultant with local school districts and other educational programs. Dr. Eaton has published in a variety of referred journals and books and has presented her work at several national conferences as well. Dr. Eaton's research is focused on indices of academic achievement for children of color and parental socialization practices.
