Dr. Laurell Malone is a native New Yorker and an Associate Professor in the Master of School Administration Program and Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership at North Carolina Central University. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Biology from Earlham College, a Master of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Virginia, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Administration from Virginia Tech University, and a Doctorate of Educational Administration from Virginia Tech University. She has over 30 years of experience in education as a teacher, principal, educational consultant, teacher coach, facilitator, and college instructor. Dr. Malone's specialty areas include school leadership, instructional leadership, culturally responsive pedagogy, interactive teaching, environmental education, and Praxis Preparation. The importance of power, commitment, creativity, and self-efficacy to professional success and achievement is emphasized throughout her courses, leadership initiatives, and presentations.
