Biography:
A native of North Carolina, James Edward Osler II was born and raised in the City of Medicine, Durham, NC. An artist, Osler is always using art to teach in some form or capacity. He completed a Baccalaureate in Art at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) with a concentration in Studio emphasizing painting, illustration, and design.
Osler believes that his true calling is teaching. He has always been interested in how information is delivered and continues to explore the many different methods, models, and modes of instruction. His next academic endeavor was the pursuit of a Masters degree in Educational Technology at his Alma Mater following his undergraduate studies. As a result of his graduate work, Osler began his initial research in Instructional Design and Technology. He began to develop techniques that harnessed the power technology to advance learning in an instructional setting. He seeks to bridge the gap between learning, instructional methods, technological applications, and achievable outcomes.
Osler continued to develop his interests in Instructional Design and Technology during further graduate study at North Carolina State University. There he completed a Doctorate in Education with a research focus that culminated in his authoring: The Ergonomic Multimedia Courseware Equation ©. His current research focus involves the theories that explain the development and use of Technology and Ergonomic Hypermedia tools as effective learning methods. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at NCCU. His interests include: a life filled with a love of Almighty GOD and service to his fellow man through: teaching; the production of innovative teaching tools; and research. He has been awarded two of the highest honors at NCCU as an employee and as faculty: The Employee Recognition Award for Outstanding Service in 2001 and The University Award for Teaching Excellence in 2008.
