Clinical Nutrition & Counseling Experience:
Before coming to NCCU, I was working as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) in a Diabetes Self Management Education program. In addition to diabetes management, I also worked extensively with patients struggling with cardiovascular disease, obesity, bariatric surgery, chronic kidney disease and self-feeding disorders. I performed all of the sports nutrition related counseling for the facility. In this capacity, I was able to work with many aspiring high school athletes looking to make the next step to collegiate athletics. As one of the major health promoting and nutrition liaisons in the area, I was frequently quoted in local newspapers and media publications.
I also worked part-time in a 350 bed hospital as a clinical dietitian covering mainly the ICU & CCU floors. Most of the patients I saw were in critical need.
