NCCU's School of Music Liberal Arts concentration is designed for those who wish to pursue a traditional Arts and Sciences curriculum while continuing to study music through lessons, recitals, and ensemble performances.
Complete a minimum of 128 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher, with a cumulative grade point average of 2.70 or higher for ALL music courses. The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.
Note: The student must have a grade point average of 2.50 or higher for admission to the NCCU Teacher Education Program.
Complete the General Education Curriculum Courses required of all undergraduates by the University.
Required music courses: MUSL 1010, 1050, 1060, 1070, 1080 (or their equivalent), 1220, 1260, 1600, 2110, 2120, 2210, 2220, 2405, 3110, 3410, 3420, 3500, 3530, 3560, 3600, 3601, 3602, 3860, 3920, 4600.
Enrollment in an applied music primary course every semester.
Participation in a musical ensemble every semester.
Enrollment in applied piano until the piano proficiency examination is passed.
Participation in workshops/recitals every semester except the student teaching semester.
