NCCUs Dept. of History offers courses and concentrations in American , African, European, Latin American, African American, African Diaspora, and Public history.  Programs of study present students with opportunities to teach history at the secondary level, practice public history, pursue graduate or professional study, or enter into a variety of careers.  The Department continues to produce more students who have earned the PhD in History than any other HBCU.   We are especially pleased to be in a position to train secondary teachers.  North Carolina and many other states is experiencing a chronic shortage in qualified teachers.  We are committed to training and placing teachers.
