Capital assets are assigned a unique University bar-code for identification and inventory.
The Capital Assets Office monitors all property transactions and maintains a database of the University’s personal property.
These processes are carried out through the use of barcodes that are applied to items of property and recorded during an inventory process conducted each year.
The office is charged also with analyzing equipment records for fiscal-year audits and maintaining a record of the locations and book values of property items for reference in the event of a fire loss.
The Capital Assets Office conducts end-of-year evaluations for physical-inventory procedures in areas throughout the university, verifying computations and approving adjustments as needed to stocks of expendable items.
A record of university-owned historic properties, including furniture, portraits and objects of art, is also maintained by the Capital Assets staff.
