2019 NCCU International Symposium

Event Details

Description: The 2019 International Symposium is a collaboration between North Carolina Central University’s Chancellor Johnson O. Akinleye’s The Eagle Promise initiative and the Julius L. Chambers Biomedical Biotechnology Research Institute (JLC-BBRI), which is celebrating its 20-year anniversary of promoting health disparities research and preparing minority researchers.  This year’s symposium will highlight issues that impact health equity and empower students to take leadership roles in addressing global disparities. Panel discussions and poster presentations featuring NCCU faculty, staff and students, as well as visiting global health experts, will explore:
  • Global health disparity issues, including social determinants and disease prevalence;
  • Environmental health and advocacy;
  • Financial literacy and global health; and
  • NCCU global partnerships.
The symposium will also include a session to engage and promote early-awareness of health disparities research among high school students.  We look forward to your presence at this meaningful and insightful learning experience.
